An Overriding Goal

Every one has a true desire, the one thing they want more than anything, the one thing that always seems to elude them, what is yours ?

http://dennisharting.blogspot.com/2009/03/overriding-goal.html

What is it you want more than anything else in the world? What is the "dream" that you carry with you on a daily basis? If an idea for your entire life is too much, what do you want to see happen in the next 6-12 months?

There is so much talk of goals that they can get diluted. The fact is that an overriding goal is what provides passion in our life. It is the basis of all obsession. People who feel that strongly about something will do whatever they can to make it come true. That is a person who cannot be stopped.

10 Ways to Beat the “Can’t Get No Satisfaction” Syndrome

Are you feeling like life isn’t exciting enough? That maybe you’re missing out on something because you just can’t get motivated for anything? Turns out you’re not alone.

What a tough question! How do you get excited about life?

I have to admit that this is not only a common problem, but one of the toughest. I’ve gone through times in my life when nothing seemed exciting. Dreams seemed utterly hopeless and useless. Motivation was a hard currency to come by.

So what changed? What got me excited by life?

There’s no one answer. What follows is a series of things that worked for me, in no particular order … I should note that some of these may sound trite, but they actually do work, for me and for countless others:

Read more, I enjoyed this and hope you do as well http://zenhabits.net/2009/02/10-ways-to-beat-the-cant-get-no-satisfaction-syndrome/

What Really Creates Success?

What really creates success? What makes one different to another ? People are basically the same yet some achieve greatness, some don't and the reasons are really simple when you think about it, and this article can say it much better than I could ever hope to

This is a question that has plagued mankind since the earliest of times. What is it that separates those who achieve from those who do not? There are thousands upon thousands of books written on the subject; all utilizing a different theory. Some believe it is motivation; others mindset. However, what is the one thing that really creates success?

Through my years of research, I understand there is a common trait among those who are successful. I believe this is the single factor which determines success. Concentrate on this quality and you will attain all that you set out to do. This trait is "action".

Overcoming Fear

This is one of the best articles I have read this year so far, this writer rarely fails to deliver words that make you think and recognise something within you that can identify with his words

Everyone is afraid at times. Nobody walking this planet is exempt from fear. However, the successful are those who confront their fears by moving forward. Overcoming fear is the most basic of actions if you are going to lead a successful life.

We see many people who live in a "box" because of the fear they have. They are too fearful to strike out on their own and achieve what they truly desire. Instead, they live the dream of another. This is sad. Of course, this choice is rationalized by saying such things as "I am being responsible".

Successful Outlook

We think therefore we are.........but what if we think wrong ? What if we focus on the negative and not the positive ? Sometimes life happens, there is nothing we can do to stop it, its how we then move forward from lifes blows that counts

A great article defining how we look is how things can be, mindset and positive thinking is something we need to look at in our lives

http://dennisharting.blogspot.com/2009/02/successful-outlook.html

Focus is what makes the difference. It is what we focus upon that determines the direction that our life goes in. Too many people choose to concentrate upon the fear in their life. They picture how things can go wrong. That is their consistent focus.

Want to make a radical shift in your life? Change what you choose to focus upon. Instead of looking at all the negativity, think continually about good things. I wrote the other day about positive expectations. Successful people concentrate their thoughts on how things are going to turn out in their favor. The rest always look at how things will go wrong.

Everybody Has A Line

Everybody has a line or a phrase that they remember, something that sticks in their mind and they draw on it at various times during the day, when things are not as we want them to be or indeed when things are going great. I have posted this before but I find myself daily coming back to it and in particular two sections......

The mind runs and instills fear in the person. This is the mind's defense against uncertainty. Any conclusion it draws is negative, thus implenting fear into the equation.

There is a time to think and there is a time to act. Most people do more thinking than acting (I am not referring to being on a stage). They suffer from paralysis by analysis. Overthinking causes them to miss golden opportunities right in front of them. They are too busy waiting for the perfect time. There never is a perfect time. Take action and make the necessary adjustments as you progress. That is how the successful operate.

The world is full of risk. There is nothing in life that is totally risk free. Even the most basic of activities has the risk of catastrophe.

the whole article can be found at http://dennisharting.blogspot.com/2009/02/there-is-never-perfect-time.html

My advice to you is to find that phrase that means something to you and read it often, look at it and take courage from it, its the simple things that promote self worth and motivation

Make Every Moment Count

Sometimes we are so busy looking forward, focusing on the big picture we miss the things that are happening in the here and now, this is something we need to focus on, the things we do now affect the things we do later

Inspiration can come from anywhere. Last night, I saw the movie Notorious BIG. In it, there is a scene where Biggie is talking with his mom after the death of Tupac. "Make every moment count" were the words his mom uttered to him. No truer words were ever spoken.

Are you making every moment count in your life? Do you spend countless hours chasing things that really are not important in the long run? Life is short. We never know when the end comes. It is a surprise for all of us. Today is the only day that we have.

Increase Motivation

If you want to make things happen the ability to motivate yourself and others is a crucial skill. At work, home, and everywhere in between, people use motivation to get results. Motivation requires a delicate balance of communication, structure, and incentives. These 21 tactics will help you maximize motivation in yourself and others.

Motivation

1. Consequences - Never use threats. They’ll turn people against you. But making people aware of the negative consequences of not getting results (for everyone involved) can have a big impact. This one is also big for self motivation. If you don’t get your act together, will you ever get what you want?
