Toxic People

There are people who love to twist you around, you know the type of people I mean, the ones who say things to get you upset, or they are constantly depressed, pulling your mood from you. These are people you do not need in your life, some one who explains it better than I can is D. Harting, once more he seems to have hit the nail on the head with this excellent post

We hear a lot of talk in the media about all the toxic assets on the balance sheets of the banks. These "assets" are destroying these companies at a record rate. We already saw the fall of Lehman Brothers with AIG, Bank of American, and Citigroup teetering on the brink. All of these institutions are/were filled with the toxic assets.

Many people are just as toxic. They have the ability to destroy your life if you allow them. They will eat at your personal balance sheet from the inside while bankrupting you. Some of the most valuable things in your life are stolen by these people.

8 Harsh Truths that Will Improve Your Life

They say life is what we make of it. By the end of this post, I hope to have helped you decide whether that statement is true or not.

There is no doubt that life has its ups and downs. However, how we deal with them can sometimes make all the difference. Today I want to share eight harsh truths that I've come to learn from life. There's also a message in each that I think we can all learn from, and when applied, will improve our lives infinitely.

Some of these lessons may be old-hat for you. If so, look for ways to refine the idea to ensure your getting the most out of it. On the other hand, you may completely disagree with an idea or two and that's great! Let us know your thoughts so we can all learn from each other.

Teflon Insides

There are two basic types of people, those who are teflon and those who are sponges, I admit to being a sponge, and this has not done me any favours, I need to be teflon, as by being teflon I can control what affects my thoughts and therefore my life, what type of person are you ?

John Gotti, the head of the Gambino crime family, was known as the Teflon Don because none of the first few indictments against him stuck. In other words, the charges of the prosecution bounced off him. This brings me to today's lesson. Do you have teflon insides or do you let things get to you? This is a very important question pertaining to emotional stability. Your answer shows how you are able to handle things.

Long Term Thinking

The most powerful weapon known to man is his mind, to think it makes it more of a reality......or does it ? Negative thoughts as we know can bring us down, positive thoughts can lift us, so how can we keep the right thoughts in our head ? How can we work towards making sure what we think can only help us ?

Mindset is critically important for success. One of the common traits of the super successful is that they focus on the long term. The unsuccessful, on the other hand, tend to concentrate on short term results. This single difference has dramatic impacts in the life you lead.

Short term thinking causes long term problems. A prime example of this is often the political world. Politicians take steps thinking about the time frame to the next election cycle. They do not truly consider the long term impacts of their decisions.

I Wish You

      Comfort on difficult days,

Smiles when sadness intrudes,

Rainbows to follow the clouds,

Laughter to kiss your lips,

Sunsets to warm your heart,

Gentle hugs when spirits sag,

Friendships to brighten your being,

Beauty for your eyes to see,

Confidence for when you doubt,

Faith so that you can believe,

Courage to know yourself,

Patience to accept the truth,

And love to complete your life.

Overcoming Fear II

Yesterday I qouted an article which I have found helpful, today there is another part of that theme, and the advice given is something many would be wise to follow, some sound advice

There are many strategies which help in overcoming fear and getting us to take action. However, there is one which I believe trumps all the rest. Follow this simple idea and you will be able to take action in any situation.

This involves asking one simple question: "what is the worst thing that could happen in this situation?". Come up with the answer to that question and prepare for that event. If you are prepared for the worst case scenario, then you will be able to handle whatever arises. This is a technique those who are trained in crisis management utilize.

Overcoming Fear

This is one of the best articles I have read this year so far, this writer rarely fails to deliver words that make you think and recognise something within you that can identify with his words

Everyone is afraid at times. Nobody walking this planet is exempt from fear. However, the successful are those who confront their fears by moving forward. Overcoming fear is the most basic of actions if you are going to lead a successful life.

We see many people who live in a "box" because of the fear they have. They are too fearful to strike out on their own and achieve what they truly desire. Instead, they live the dream of another. This is sad. Of course, this choice is rationalized by saying such things as "I am being responsible".

Victimization

There are times when life happens, when things beyond your control have an impact on your life and you have no control on the event ......... but you do have some control on the outcome.
How you deal with things, how you think and act can all have an impact on what happens next, your mindset is something you can control.

People love to play the victim. This absolves them of any personal responsibility. It also provides for an excuse as to why one did not succeed. After all, it was because of (fill in the blank).

Being a victim is a way to ensure you will never be successful. Always reaching for an alibi becomes a habit that will eventually stifle action. Take a look at the most successful people and tell me how many claim victimization. You will find this is not a common trait among this group of people.

Successful Outlook

We think therefore we are.........but what if we think wrong ? What if we focus on the negative and not the positive ? Sometimes life happens, there is nothing we can do to stop it, its how we then move forward from lifes blows that counts

A great article defining how we look is how things can be, mindset and positive thinking is something we need to look at in our lives

http://dennisharting.blogspot.com/2009/02/successful-outlook.html

Focus is what makes the difference. It is what we focus upon that determines the direction that our life goes in. Too many people choose to concentrate upon the fear in their life. They picture how things can go wrong. That is their consistent focus.

Want to make a radical shift in your life? Change what you choose to focus upon. Instead of looking at all the negativity, think continually about good things. I wrote the other day about positive expectations. Successful people concentrate their thoughts on how things are going to turn out in their favor. The rest always look at how things will go wrong.

Everybody Has A Line

Everybody has a line or a phrase that they remember, something that sticks in their mind and they draw on it at various times during the day, when things are not as we want them to be or indeed when things are going great. I have posted this before but I find myself daily coming back to it and in particular two sections......

The mind runs and instills fear in the person. This is the mind's defense against uncertainty. Any conclusion it draws is negative, thus implenting fear into the equation.

There is a time to think and there is a time to act. Most people do more thinking than acting (I am not referring to being on a stage). They suffer from paralysis by analysis. Overthinking causes them to miss golden opportunities right in front of them. They are too busy waiting for the perfect time. There never is a perfect time. Take action and make the necessary adjustments as you progress. That is how the successful operate.

The world is full of risk. There is nothing in life that is totally risk free. Even the most basic of activities has the risk of catastrophe.

the whole article can be found at http://dennisharting.blogspot.com/2009/02/there-is-never-perfect-time.html

My advice to you is to find that phrase that means something to you and read it often, look at it and take courage from it, its the simple things that promote self worth and motivation

Those Who Dare

Those who dare can achieve

I Am Only One

You may only be one person but you are still one worthy of greatness

A Creed To Live By

A Creed To Live By
Nancye Sims

Don't undermine your worth by comparing yourself with others.

It is because we are different that each of us are special. Don't set your goals by what other people deem important. Only do what is best for you.

Don't take for granted the things closest to your heart. Cling to them as you would your life, for without them life is meaningless.

Don't let life slip through your fingers by living in the past or in the future. By living one day at a time you live all days of your life.

Don't give up when you still have something to give. Nothing is really over until the moment you stop trying.

Don't be afraid to admit that you are less than perfect. It is the fragile thread that binds us to each other.

Don't be afraid to encounter risks. It is by taking chances that we learn how to be brave.

Don't shut love out of your life by saying it is impossible. The fastest way to lose love is to hold to it tightly, and the best way to keep love is to give it wings.

Don't dismiss your dreams. To be without dreams is to be without hope, to be without hope is to be without purpose.

Don't run through life so fast that you forget not only where you have been, but also where you are going. Life is not a race, but a journey to be savoured each step of the way.
